TERMS OF REFERENCE
When developing a new system it is important that our clients know exactly what their requirements are, everything from a basic data storage level to more advanced functionality.
Within the terms or reference the project should be clearly defined, this will be established through discussions with our clients. It should include a basic outline of the project and work towards a final outcome. It is important to clearly establish what the objectives and deliverables are, and to ensure that we are made aware of any logistical constraints that may hinder us automating the process in an electronic form. We should understand exactly what the system should be able to do, in order for us to develop a complete solution, in terms of information management and data processing.
These terms of reference should cover as much, or as little detail as if is felt necessary. It can involve a wide range of parties, anyone from customers to higher management. It is important that it includes all those who have an interest in the end project.
